Rob Brown is not a stranger to Syracuse's music scene. Although he joined the Soft Spoken Band recently playing trombone and keyboard, he has also played with such groups as UAD, The Black Lights and the Paul Robeson Music Company. He is a music teacher at Blodgett K-8 School where he's been for 6 years and a total of 13+ years teaching in the District. He attained his B.A. in Music Education from The Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam and has earned a M.S. in Music Education from Syracuse University. He has also advised and directed gospel choirs in the SCSD for 12 years where the students have earned two 1st Place finishes and one Excellent rating at three Music In The Parks competitions.
He is also a musician and Music Minister at the New Life temple of Praise Church where Dr. Ronald B. Dewberry is the Senior Pastor. He also serves as an adjunct professor for the SUNY Cortland Gospel Choir at SUNY Cortland college. Since staring this position in 2003, he and the gospel choir has competed two National Gospel Choir Competitions in NYC, performed alongside Kirk Franklin at Colgate University in February 2008, traveled to London, England in 2007 and will be travelling to various parts in Germany in April 2009.
